We've been inundated with people telling us the wonderful things that they have been doing to support our schools and early childhood centres affected by bushfire. If you, too, would like to share the types of activities your school and early childhood community are doing to help, please send us your comments. Please note, posts are moderated, and will not appear on this weblog until the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has approved them.

If you would like to financially support our schools and early childhood services affected by the fires, please donate to the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund.

I live in Wandong/Heathcote Junction and experienced the black saturday fires first hand. I work at Coolaroo South Primary school and kindergaten where the staff and children raised over $1000 for the bush fire appeal. What a wonderful effort for a school with 220 students. Thanks to every one for their genourosity.  Keep it up.

letters and posters to send

February 24th, 2009

Hi we are a small school in South Australia and we are so sorry about what happened in Victoria. We saw the news on TV and we have been so sad. We have written letters and made little posters to send to some school or schools who have been effected by the terrible fires. We have raised over $500.00 to send to the Red Cross Appeal and many children offered their savings and their lunch money. One little girl wanted to withdraw her whole savings to send. We have really no idea of how you must be feeling but we offer you our heart felt condolences and prayers and support in any way we can. We would like to send you the posters when we have an address to send them to.

Kind Regards

company collection

February 23rd, 2009

Myself and my wife have organised an internal collection from the company we work for as well as our local school. We anticipate a sea container full of writing pads, books, stationary and educational material. Our response has been overwhelming like other appeals.  Glad to be Australian and helping all!
